Default Distributor Cap Wanted

After parking my car on a friends lawn after a long drive in the wet, I found that it didn't want to start the next morning.

Opening the bonnet revealed that she had 'sucked up' a huge amount of moisture from the wet grass (after all it's been raining on and off in Sydney for nearly 3 weeks) and there were droplets of water everywhere.

I got out the trust WD-40 and started the process of applying it on all electrical contacts.

Still she didn't want to start, so I removed the dizzy cap. Well it was wet inside and got a spray of WD-40. Back on she went and zooom it burst into life.

What I have observed is that the dizzy cap is cracked, so I am in need of a replacement.

Anyone who has a 450 SE cap for sale please send me a pm or call me on 0457 39 64 65.

Thanks

Brian

Hey Brian,
I sold mine only a couple weeks back.

However, brand new from MB Spares they are very cost effective, and also for piece of mind of a new one - it's worth it.

Cheers,
Cam.

Why not somewhere like supercheap?

surely?

Last time I had a Mercedes and needed a dist cap, it was a few years ago granted but $25 for a Champion or something like $60 for a Bosch.

they are just a throw away item, bit like putting used spark plugs in a car or wiper blades

Kind Regards
Des

If you just want one that works, I'd go to the wreckers and grab one. Early W126 V8s use exactly the same part.

Indeed, for a long-term solution, new is the only way to go.

Hi Bar, I am pretty certain I have located a unit - but it is just plain bakelite without the black plastic cover. The price $25.00 plus postage to Central Coast. Please give me a buzz when convenient. Regards Styria
