You can normally purchase DVD electronic workshop manuals on eBay for less than $20 on a regular basis. One DVD we purchased for the NSW club has all Mercedes models from 1972 to 2006.

Most easily available manuals are based on USA models.

An easily available manual is the Haynes one which is available in Oz in most good car shops.

Here is a USA website with a picture

http://www.manualsunlimited.com/adva...HYN63030&dd=dd

There is a CD based version of the original MBUSA workshop manual which is also available at this site

http://www.manualsunlimited.com/auto...h/24_63/page/5

but this can be purchased for about $20 on e-bay if you look around and is also available free on that "other" w116 site. It has no 6.9 specific engine or transmission information but it does cover the hydraulic suspension in good detail (It was a rarely exercised option on the M117 450)

If you are looking for 6.9 specific engine and transmission manuals they can be purchased here

http://www.schiffeuropean.com/Main_Catalog.html

Some of us have literature including wiring diagrams which we are happy to share for nothing more than a polite thankyou if you have a specific problem.

Hi WGB - there is no need to refer to "the other 116 site" as such - we don't have a problem if any of their features are mentioned on 'topklasse' - I'd like to think that we are above pettiness, and if you want to refer to them, no one is going to bite your head off !

I particularly like JohnS's suggestion of the CD's - that price is more than reasonable. The 116 American books themselves consist of two manuals, Vols. 1 and 2 (very clever), and they are heavy and expensive to buy - if you can find them. Regards Styria

Ok Styria - so long as it doesn't cause offence here is the link to the on-line manual

http://forum.w116.org/mechanicals/se...library-t5017/

I am not sure if you need a forum login to access it or not.

Regards

Bill
