The results were very disappointing for the sellers - and great for buyers. However, I noted on the inspection reports of a number of the cars that there was considerable underbody rust and that is going to scare any buyer who has done a proper investigation. I seriously considered the big BMW coupe but underneath the body it had sufficient corrosion to turn me off - my days of chasing Italian rust (or any other sort of rust) are over and I would rather deal with mechanical issues than deal with a never-ending corrosion problem.
A good sound Shadow sells for considerably more and I advise prospective buyers to stay away from neglected examples unless they want to take on a major project.
The car market is all a bit strange at the moment. The Economy is all a bit strange at the moment and I don't see it stabilising for the next few years.
Regards,
Brian

Interesting to know the condition report for the 380SEC & 450SLC?

380SEC sold for $6800 and $5000 for the 450SLC.

Imagine to think the cost of underbody rust repairs?

Both were no good examples. W126 stated small fire wall leak and back window leak. Meaning hidden rust. But a few bargains the WB Statesman had a great report reflected I guess in 15k selling price. Same as Nash had an above average report.

Good stuff usually does get a good price - poor stuff also sometimes gets a good price if bought by the unknowing.....
A Statesman in good condition is a nice car to drive and own - and I like the styling of this particular model.

Brian

I think I would rather the 450 SLC that I bought for $5,000 than the Shannons one. At least mine doesn't have rust and leather interior. It also must be a 1975 model as it is a D-Jet.

I think that classic car auction prices are going to soften, as the Australian economy softens.

Yes I think you are right . Now a P11 for 30-40K would get my attention .
