Default House of Bond

Have any TK Members seen the episode last night about the life and times of Alan Bond which also features Australia winning the America's Cup.

Part two is on air tonight at 9pm on Ch.9

I did see last nights episode there was a good collection of cars Rolls-Royce, Bentley and I did see a W116 as well.

Interested to see if Alan's W126 which was the 560SEL on the show tonight wait and see?

Please correct me if I am wrong but Alan did use to own a 560SEL?

Tune in tonight and see what you think of the show?

Cheers.

Exclamation Re: House of Bond

I don't think Bond "owned" anything... always somebody's Money. Is he out of Jail yet ?

After seeing part two last night Alan sure was a interesting character to say the least!

Bond's wife and second wife passed away as well.

Did not see any W126 in either of the two episodes.

Bond's family not happy about the biopic.

Perhaps Kerry Packer was right about Bond?

“You only get one Alan Bond in your lifetime, and I’ve had mine”.

That always helps for a docu-drama as the dead find it hard to sue for defamation.

Some years ago I looked at and considered buying what had been Eilleen's white Turbo RL (LWB) - problem is that it required a repaint on the LHS as the current owner lived in country Victoria and drove it on narrow bitumen roads - hence the stone chips from the time he spent with wheels on the shoulder of the road. Furthermore, it had rattles and groans that indicated a hard life. And it was not cheap ....
Its matching partner in black lives now in QLD. (his and hers I guess.)
Regards,
Brian

BTW Sean, I wouldn't take it too hard. - some of these fellows out there can be pretty cruel. Anyway, talkingof dead people that have passed us by. I need to tell you my story about Andrew Ollie. What, you've never heard of him ? Well, every so often, and once in a while, my mind goes walkabout, and I don't always know where. Anyway, I once, when musing about nothing (like me mate Turnbull - politics not allowed ), I was wondering what Ollie was doing nowadays. I mean, he was an excellent Television host, great reporter of current affairs, and a very popular member of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, also known as the ABC. May God bless them, we all say, or do we ? Anyway, Andrew Ollie - let's get back to him. Wonder whatever happened to him ? What's he doing now ? By now, after my lengthy and brilliant intro, I can tell all and sundry that the poor fellow died of cancer in 1997. RIP - Andrew Ollie. Regards. Styria

Actually Eileen is still alive. And for those that don't know her brother is John Hughes who regularly gets credited for being world's largest Hyundai dealer based on sales.

That's interesting information. Where would he be located ? Getting back to the TV production itself I lost interest when they were showing the trailer for the show and having Bond having it off with some good looking Blonde. I mean, really, fat little guy, in spite of all the money......besides, the actor portraying Bond is better looking and proportioned than what Bond ever was. So I decided not to be taken in by "sensationalism". Regards. Styria

Question Re: House of Bond

Aussies abroad..... Westfarmers just booked a One Million write down on "Home Base" in the UK and Ireland.. and still going backwards.
When will they ever learn ?
Following in the foot steps of NAB... AMP .even BHP in South America. All strutting on the World Stage. Amp has cost me $50,000 to date with more modest losses on the other two.
Bond financing a bloody Boat Race , big deal , and then Pr Minister Hawk wetting himself at the result. So much for our priorities.
