That arabian-plated (UAE) Maserati had a 'funny suit and is an older model.

And we continue the trip at the Ferrari compound.

Why don't we board the Ferrari bus?

This bus is used for Ferrari owner tours.
We did all our touring on foot and by private press cars (Fiats and Lancias).

We then visited another hangar where the Ferrari FXX programme cars are stored and looked after.

The FXX
The FXX programme, based on the Enzo, was launched by Ferrari in June 2005 and was then extended to 2008/2009. The FXX, which is the most advanced GT ever created at Maranello, has been updated with an evolution package aimed at further improving its handling and performance. The package was developed as a result of Ferrari's collaboration with its Client Test Drivers and with the invaluable support of Michael Schumacher. The FXXs equipped with this package will also sport a new livery in addition to new rear wing profiles.

The FXX is not homologated for road use and there are no plans to compete with it either. In fact, the FXX prototype is designed exclusively for track driving as part of a specific R&D program agreed with a selected group of just over 20 clients involving 14 group test sessions and 14 private ones in the last two years. Thanks to readings taken over the 10,200 miles of tests carried out in 2006 and the 11,500 miles covered in 2007, the modifications made to the car have focused on honing its aerodynamics, running gear and electronics. Seven-times Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher also joined the ranks of the client test drivers and gave the program the benefit of his vast experience on several occasions.

We now enter the Ferrari Galleria.
Rather than calling it a museum, it was thought a galleria can continuously evolve rather than be an inert museum.

The earliest Ferrari in existence.

Another ex racing prototype

The Ferrari that attracted the highest bid in history is this 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa

This 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa fetched 9,020,000 Euro (more than AUD$15,5 million) at the “Ferrari Leggenda e Passione” (auction) in Maranello, Italy in May 2009. Beautiful, rare (only 22 similar models were made) and with a rich and successful race history that began with a debut in the Buenos Aires 1000km in 1958, the 250 TR chassis no. 0714TR was snapped up by an anonymous phone bidder (and has since been residing at the Ferrari Galleria awaiting the new owner’s wishes).
Ferrari no. 0714TR is considered one of the most competitive racing Ferraris ever built, having won 10 races in North and South America between 1958 and 1961. It boasts a 300 bhp, 2,953 cc single overhead cam degrees V-12 engine, six Weber 38 DCN carburettors and a four-speed manual gearbox.

A few non Ferraris were at the Galleria and this early Alfa Romeo caught my eye.

Please excuse the 'soft' pictures.
By then I had run out of battery in my Leica and had to use my iPhone!

I love the blue Alfa, but the back view reminds me of the Peugeot 203 rear shape which came out years later, coincidence?

Indeed, it has the same very familiar look of the Peugeot 203

Hi Lukas, take no notice of Michel's reply. There'd be lots of factors, and not necessarily in that order. Enthusiasm, a love for cars, a thirst for money and to do well, and to succeed, bloody hard work, imagination, being smart (as in clever) and a never say die attitude.

There's probably a few more, but any more tickets, and the guy would fly away. Well, he's just a smart and knowledgeable character.

Regards Styria

And it's certainly not oil down the guides on the over-run...

Just joking.

What a wonderful collection of cars Michel and like you I spend a lot of my working day with a number of old chassis' stripped to the bare minimum.
