Some 'old' cars dispersed throughout one factory building

This was used as a Police Commissioner's car in a TV series during the 60s

A row of newer cars...

Look at this.... 1948 12 Cylinder 2.0-litre engine

And this 1949 version

The freshly painted bodies, wheeled to the assembly line

They get all the plastic covering removed

Before they are sent up in the elevator

And down the assembly line

(these are various pictures taken at different stages and not in order)

The drive trains

The dashes....

A few more checks and tweaks

Almost finished

A few seconds left.... Each stage of the assembly line is give 30minutes to do their section.
Although it can be done in half the time (other manufacturers), Ferrari gives ample time for perfection.
Done right the first time!

These F1 Ferraris are owned by private people and looked after by Ferrari

These are know as the F1 Clienti....

Some big names drove those cars

Ferrari technicians service them and repair them (at a cost)

Just amazing! Can any tourist get the tour or was this part of the business aspect of your trip, Michel?

Only owners of Ferraris are allowed to tour the factory or motoring journos by special invitation (my case).

Ahem......and their entourage....

Like I said before you went... if you need some assistant notetakers/pen holders/film loaders/camera carriers, any kind of PA task I'm sure there's plenty of willing bods to help out.

Seriously though, they are some fascinating pictures. I've never stumbled across factory photos like that, just the Ferrari produced clips on youtube of engines and heads being cast, machined and built which is fascinating in itself.

Can't believe all those F1 cars lined up though not to mention the classic line up.

They are indeed wonderful pictures - so why is Michel driving a Maserati this weekend? Hmmmm. Seems a Ferrari does not quite cut the mustard?
Actually I believe Michel has made a wise choice. The M is truly a refined automobile.

Hi BenzBopy, we all do indeed know that Maserati is now owned by Ferrari - one need not say any more. Heritage, Breeding, Nostalgia, Excitement - all of it to be had in one sentence, plus whatever else may even come close to those descriptions.

I am purely expressing a personal opinion, and appreciation of the pics that Michel has supplied (blessed ?) us with - how many of us would actually have the opportunity to tour the Ferrari factory and, whatsmore, how many of us would actually know what it is like inside the Ferrari factory. It is simply, to my mind anyway, quite amazing.

I mean, Ferraris for many years have not enjoyed a particularly favourable reputation (rust, mechanical unreliability etc. etc.), but the mystique has never floundered, nor will it ever die....and Michel's pics simply do nothing but to re-affirm that legend.

When one has the opportunity to look at the Ferrari factory, C.F. Mirbach in Germany with their classic used vehicles, Thiessen in Berlin with likewise, plus God knows how many other classic sources, it is just simply wonderful to just enjopy the pictures. If one can experience them personally, so much better still. Thank you. Regards Styria

Styria, BenzBoy, Parks, Oscar, Chrisp and everyone who has commented: Thank you for the kind words and it's a pleasure putting all the pics up.
Although it is quite time consuming, but isn't it what TopKlasse is all about?

Ferrari and Maserati are both owned by the Fiat group which also owns Lancia, and Alfa Romeo.
The only Italian manufacturer left is Lamborghini and that is owned by the Volkswagen group.

Since Fiat bought all these brands under one umbrella, technology has been passing across the group and quality control has improved markedly.

It's been a pleasure driving the Quatroporte yesterday and today.
Very annoying that it's been raining, sometimes heavily, not allowing me to truly enjoy the Trident.

But there is still tomorrow...

Let's hope the weather is better for a lot of people, especially for the Phantoms, the Ghosts and all other friendly automobiles.

Thank you Michel. Regardless of the rain the PII will be leading the pack. The windscreen wiper motor has been dismantled, cleaned and the connections re-soldered; the carpets have been vacuumed; the screens treated to Rain-X and the toolkit/spare wheels/hi-intensity trouble lamp/mechanic all packed ready for the trip. And two fire extinguishers... Oh, and the correct Spirit of Ecstasy is on the radiator.
Now, is this your Maserati?

Regards,
Benz-Boy
