Yes what they did to the front of the engine to drive the original equipment of the Grosser is just a mess!

That's for the original air suspension. I think the hydraulics for the Grosser was driven by a pump attached to the rear of the air compressor

I can count six belt driven pulleys, including an interesting one in the shape of an air suspension compressor, yet I can also spot the hydraulic pump as used on the hydraulically suspended Ch. 116 and Ch. 126 models. Which one was he using - also, what was the method of feeding oil to the air suspension compressor. A very gifted engineer, an overly complex project. Incidentally, an Australian M100 (6.9) engine runs a compression of 8.00:1 - surely even that ratio could be a bit high for a turbo installation.

8 to 1 would be passable for a low blow turbo (Say half a bar maximum) but anything above that pressure and it really starts to place great strain on the crank, bottom end bearings not to mention the head gasket, head, valves and rings.

Add to that the increased stress from the massive amount of heat and the fact that the oil system really wouldn't be designed to cope plus the massive wear and strain on the driveline and this car will be problematic in many areas I feel.

Unless of course the original drive train was removed before turbo and placed back in the car once the silliness was over with.

For my money?

Id be supercharging to take advantage of the massive torque curve the M100 delivers

I thought a low comp M100 would be ideal for turbos as the bottom end doesn't come much tougher? And with the dry sump, there's plenty of oil to absorb excess heat. You could use a Euro oil cooler just to be sure.... BTW I thought comp ratios had crept back up in recent years, even on turbo motors. I know it was designed with turbos, but the 2012 GTR has a comp of 9:1

I dont recall the exact reason and methodology but..........

Oil volume delivery is lacking on cars not initially designed for Turbo which can lead to starvation and although the bottom ends may well be strong they only last so long without enough oil.

As for compression?

You can run hi comp providing you do the head work which includes a better seal which usually involves some machining and addition of O rings.

You can also shim the head which will add deck height and drop compression.

So oil delivery volume, use of an excellent oil, compression lowering versus low blow turbo's and heat dissipation.

There are other issues but too individual to start listing.
