Don't you also need a separate amplifier to go with these things?

Hi KenM, you certainly need the separate amplifier to make it "Go". I don't really think that they're that rare plus, of course, parts are becoming somewhat difficult to obtain - unless, of course, you go to the local specialists whose name escapes me - there, however, you WILL pay EXTRA to make it all functional.

Strictly for the 'Concours' minded owner. BTW, maybe it depends on set-up or whatever, but a standard Becker system as fitted to our 116 series can sound quite nice and rich in tone. Better than one would expect. Regards Styria

The local specialist the Styria refers to is Soundlabs.

Hi All,

Just delivered my Becker Mexico cassette unit and amplifier to James of Soundlab in Melbourne for a bench test to assess it.

James mentioned that given cassette bits hard to find, rubber bits perish and cassette rarely used these days,he suggested converting cassette to Bluetooth to stream music via mobile phone. Thoughts?

Further Soundlab no longer service original Hirschmann power aerial units. Any Melbourne suggestions?

Also any suggestions for rewiring and installation of speakers in Melbourne, who knows their way around these vehicles, will take care, patience and pride in their work?

Thanks everyone. Happy motoring!
