Default W126 UK Price and option list

The 500E board has a great UK spec price and options list for the W126.
It is after the move to the soft leather interior, so I guess 1989-1991.

File also attached here

Some of the options are pretty expensive.
Oversize, check out the cost of the four place seating and full hydro that your Dora 2 has.

Holy cow! Iíll have to add up all the options & see what the full retail price wouldíve been....

I still find it odd that rear seat heaters werenít selected. Iíd love a rear blind but Iím just being greedy! I could add one, but Iím reluctant to modify much. The original radio is long gone & I do have a factory CD player I may install. If I do Iíll add Bluetooth, new speakers & upgraded amps.

I have an original AMG rear deck spoiler, but Iíll probably put that on Midnight Express....

Even stranger that I just had a closer look at the list & it seems the rear heaters & blind were a NCO on the UK 560 limo!! Did the original owner actually say no thanks??

Might not have been a no cost option in 87.

By 89-91 the 140 was imminent so adding a few more bo cost options might have been a way of keeping the cars competitive

Yes of course I didnít think about the timeframe! Not sure why youíd spend so much for HPF on the lesser models. And donít forget those prices were UK pounds....

It sure would be odd to find something like a 420SEL with all those options.

e.g. if you optioned up a 420SEL with:
- A/C
- Alloys
- Cruise
- HPF
- Front/Rear seat heaters
- Metallic paint
- rear blind
- four place seats
- LSD

you get a price of 50,508 UKP

Quite a bit more than a standard 500SEL which has some of these options and close to a 560.

I wonder if they ever sold many cars like that.

Petrol prices in the UK would factor highly in a purchase decision, so a 560 may not be as desirable as a 420?

I would say on the 2nd hand market absolutely, but given how expensive these cars were new, I doubt even a 300SE owner was that concerned.

The exception might be limo drivers.

Some of the option prices are eyewatering, and if one were to consider the purchase of a W126, especially from '85 onwards, you can get great value for money. Nowadays, looking around carefully, it is a little depressing to see such few W116s and W126s on the road. The activities of those cars are virtually restricted to club use and club members. I guess that's what it is nowadays, with the Asian Marques and SUVs having taken over 'holus bolus'. Regards Styria
