Yep! I have just discovered that I have enough bits to do a third grille. It will be colour coded matched to the car, but without the alloy grille inserts, which I may fit later, if I acquire enough in good enough condition.

Maybe I ought to colour match that spare grille (I am awaiting from the Godfather) to the 690SEL body colour

If the gods had intended the grille to be red, then red would have been an option at the time. Oh, yours is a custom colour anyway? Well in that case the answer is still: NO!!!

I got the grille...
The Godfather personally delivered it yesterday so I can carry my modification without delay.

Now I have to convince Mr Jerry to allocate some time to the task of preparing and painting it ...

Michel, don't forget to use a plastic primer. If you do, any subsequent paint that you would use (even red !) will last quite well. Mind you, red coloured grille - pretty poxy, don't you think ? Anyway, if I remember correctly, do you have the rubber seal that fits between bonnet and grille ? If you don't, now would be a good time to fit it. Regards Styria

Hi Rosstamon, that's a nice picture of your car - is it a 450 ? Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of the interior. Charcoal grille - looks good, but that is just about the original colour of the plastic, isn't it ? I'd let those other turkeys experiment with the various colour schemes. Regards Styria

N.B. To tell the truth, I am also considering a far reaching decision as far as paint is concerned.

Thanks for the compliment Styra. I've posted a few older pics and should have a few new ones soon that show off the news bits like Tassie's best retro orininal dash mat and a flawless zebrano ash tray... Also a shot of the paint stripped mirror polished wheel covers.

That is some tastful bling mate and no calipers or brake dust in sight...

The charcoal color grill and air intake are a nice upgrade and a good compromise between the original grey plastic and going all out black. At least for the Astral Silver color body.

I have prepared the third grille. It is colour matched as I had indicated, and the car will be wearing it at the show 'n shine at Fivedock Sunday July 11th. I will carry the black insert grille as a spare, with me.

Okay, that's the standard charcoal or light grey...........



..and that's the black SEL69L has been talking about..



...and then there is, of course, the experiment with body colour - unfortunately, ther are no alloy strips and that tends to take away from the possible attractiveness. Nevertheless, my preference is the black to match the lower grille halves.



Now we're waiting on Michel's red grille - I believe the job's been done. Now we wait to see it on the car. Should be interesting. Regards Styria

N.B. So now we need an all encompassing and honest opinion from all topklasse turkeys - BTW, even if I say so myself, that's a superbly clear picture. Olympus C7700, 10 times zoom, a mere four megapixels and it is just about seven years old - what a camera !
