Re: Mercedes fined for Diesel gate

I really don't think that owning a 6.9 or a hybrid or an electric makes all that much difference.
Overall energy consumption has a lot to do with vehicle weight, irrespective of the original energy...

Re: Mercedes fined for Diesel gate

I have heard that the City of Stuttgart has banned diesel engined cars.
From what I can gather, particulates are the problem.

That situation will help further drive the development of...

Nice Ant, you have some really great cars for sure (as well).
I know.
Thanks for the short drive in the W220 S500 ! ;)

Re: 21 Year Old E55 Just Ticked over 100,000 klms Today

Peter: It's nice to hear from you, and continue to take some interest in the E55.
Actually, I am quite happy with it. :)
I have tended to keep the E55 as a rolling semi museum piece, covering...

Red face Re: Fun in a 420SEL!

If only we could drive safely like that on the road.
Unfortunately not possible, for many different reasons. :o

21 Year Old E55 Just Ticked over 100,000 klms Today

It as taken 21 years for my (now venerable) E55 to pass the 100,000 kilometer mark.
Probably not the lowest distance covered for a W210, but maybe in the lowest 10 percentile.

Condition...

Smile Re: Lexus

I would just love to own an LS400. :)
Only problem I have about that, is that I already own a very good equivalent, that is in rather nice condition for it's age, and I haven't the slightest...

Re: 18 inch billet Mercedes Hub cap wheels

At $1,100 per wheel, I am not surprised.
Nevertheless, quite rare and a genuine collectors' item, and well worth the cost.

Re: FIAT Turbina 1954

And singed paintwork in any car that may be brave enough to follow!

Somehow, it looks, strangely enough to be an experimental American styling bureau exercise, to my eye.

I wonder if it...

Re: Rusty Gold 6.9 sold for $8K

I foreknew that I sold my 6.9 too cheaply, but a more important point has to be made.
It went to a new owner, who fully appreciates what 6.9's are all about.
Nothing beats the ride of a 6.9. Had my...

Re: Rubber Seals, Tail Light Lense and Headlight Wipers

Near perfect condition, but old parted out tail light assemblies are easier to source than new foam rubber seals.

An easy problem solved, but only at the high cost of new seals, which can serve...

Re: Glass cleaning

The small dots are most probably hard silicate material, stuck very securely to the glass.
Loose dirt needs to be removed first, then oily films.

1. Rinse the windscreen with water.
2. Scrub...

Re: Car of the week

Some people do not like the pearl white wrap I have on the roof of my E55, despite the fact that it almost exactly matches the pearl white leather inserts in the seating.

As a few of you may know,...

Re: Wanted Steering Wheel for W116

Pinch the polished timber finish diamonte studded steering wheel from Styria's 6.9. :D

More seriously, would an upmarket steering wheel from a W126 be OK ?
I have seen similar to Styria's on a...

With advent of electrics, and hybrids and small displacement turbos becoming more common all in in the quest for fuel economy, why do we need large heavy SUV's?

Think outside of the square!

Re: To Sprint or not to Sprint

My first thought, when I saw 'Sprint'
was
Elan S4 Sprint !

You don't climb into an an S4.........you put it on !
I have driven an Elan S4; the car very quickly becomes an extension of...

Re: Car of the week

Should have made an estate car out of it.
Crayford did that type of conversion.

There is even a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 11 lobbing around Sydney, rather nicely converted to a station wagon. I...

Re: Windscreen Glass

You may NOT have to replace the windscreen, if it is not cracked or star chipped.

I had a badly wiper scoremarked w/screen in my 6.9.
I chose not to replace it, but I DID fix it myself.
The job...
