Re: stopping distance

Its not surprising that a big heavy car like the rangie stops slower. Obviously you can put on bigger brakes, but an extra tonne of weight is going to play a factor no matter what you do.

Re: The Rover P5/P5B

My Dad had one (Saloon, not Wagon) for a week, I think as a loan car or rental. It was still quite new. His comment was that it was nice and smooth, but had the turning radius of the QE2.

Re: The Rover P5/P5B

I remember this car from the Flynn auction. At that time I don't recall an engine being fitted but it was very cheap.
Looks like the project has overwhelmed whoever purchaed it.

I also...

Re: Car of the week

That 350 doesn't look bad. Is it in good mechanical condition? Still have the 450's?

Re: Air Con mystery

It seems to take longer, the hotter it is.
I always had the theory there is some kind of sensor that waits until It thinks it can blow very cold before it lets the air through. As the systems...

Re: Air Con mystery

My wife's E350 does this also. Maybe not for 5-10 mins, but sometimes for 3-5 mins.

I don't recall if it always did as I don't drive the car all that regularly.

Re: W109 6.3 vs Daimler Double Six S1

How did it fare with the earlier gearboxes like the Borg Warner 12? Same problem?

Re: W109 6.3 vs Daimler Double Six S1

I would love a series 1 XJ12 or Daimler Double six at some point.
I've not driven one, but from what i gather the short stroke 12 is not a torque monster and makes its power at high revs.

Re: Car of the week

That first 450, the seller needs to be told he's dreaming. And there is no way that drivers seat is 123,000, nor the wear on the drivers door card. I think 423,000 sounds more likely! The whole...
