Re: 6.9 Transmission Upgrade

I think the other change is that 6.9s are now worth more than they used to be, and unmodified cars are worth a lot more than modified. So you could end up spending $10k for this change and then...

Re: W126 UK Price and option list

I would say on the 2nd hand market absolutely, but given how expensive these cars were new, I doubt even a 300SE owner was that concerned.

The exception might be limo drivers.

Re: W126 UK Price and option list

It sure would be odd to find something like a 420SEL with all those options.

e.g. if you optioned up a 420SEL with:
- A/C
- Alloys
- Cruise
- HPF
- Front/Rear seat heaters
- Metallic...

Re: W126 UK Price and option list

Might not have been a no cost option in 87.

By 89-91 the 140 was imminent so adding a few more bo cost options might have been a way of keeping the cars competitive

W126 UK Price and option list

The 500E board has a great UK spec price and options list for the W126.
It is after the move to the soft leather interior, so I guess 1989-1991.

I've been at work on the SEC installing the monovalve removal kit and fixing some other issues:

Re: Dora 2

I think its a good idea to check the guides.
I've had 4 560s, and 3 of them had broken guides when checked. I guess they can be like that for a while, but all you need is the guide to get caught...

Michel, are you interested in building up a fleet of 400SELs?

Re: M117 Timing Chain Replacement - Pictorial

Good preventative maintenance. Even if the miles are low, the plastic guides will still degrade with age.

Re: Better Plugs

I would imagine that the main difference is 90,000km on the first set. Would be a better test to compare new with new.

Re: My 84 500SEL

Sounds like a nice car.
Please do post updates on the work you do to it.

On the SLS, the hardest part to get is the struts as they are no longer available new. I found a set from a wrecker,...

I still have it, but its not at home.
I have a small industrial unit where the hoist and most of the cars are stored. Pretty similar to yours.

By creating the 3rd space at home it allows me...

Re: What's in your garage

Maybe not what is in your garage but my new home garage is almost complete.

It went from two irregular sized garages where you could put 1.8 cars in them (rear of the 2nd car stuck out the door)...

Check the VIN to be sure but it has the snow chain button on the dash which is only present if ASR is installed.

Its completely...
