Re: Car of the week

Wow that is quick. Those 500's are pretty popular though. They were hugely expensive at the time and they didn't sell many. They also appeal to a very different buyer than the CLK55.

Re: Bond... Original 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Heads To Auction

That is a serious amount of money. I guess it will be purchased by some billionaire to show off to their friends and be more a conversation piece than a car.

Re: New Project

Sounds like true barn finds, that would be interesting.
There was also a guy on facebook talking about a lage collection in the north coast of NSW being sold off, had mostly 60s stuff if I recall.

Re: Car of the week

The first two are well priced, although I would take the 300SEL over the 280. Even though that 280 is in great shape and a great colour, the 300 is the much better car, even taking into account the...

I don't think there were many LWB W126's with a 5 speed manual made:

Re: Distributer for early 280SE d-jetronic version

The other thing I would add, is while I have not personally owned a D-Jet car, i've had a few friends tell me that issues with Trigger points are often resolved by a good cleaning.

Re: Car of the week

Yes they do. The turbo motors are lower compression. And other mods, I think oilers in the rods and other misc stuff like different injectors.

Better to import a USA 300D with a rusty body...

The Jaguar XJ

Good article on the Jaguar XJ.

I've always fancied a S1 Saloon or a S2 Coupe.

Re: Car of the week

For two grand and working A/C could be a cheap daily or even a good first car for a p plater. Hard to hoon around too much in a an automatic 180E.

If not rusty this could be a great 280SE project. Price isn't bad.

Re: Car of the week

The 280E was a pretty impressive car for its time. 185hp out of 2.8 liter twin cam six. Lighter than the S class so it goes pretty well.

I guess it would be almost like the AMG E class of...
