Re: Car of the week

Hi Geoff, I very much like the exterior colour, and certainly the interior is most attractive to the eye - a nice, rich caramel, and in beautiful condition. Mileage - so so. Would I buy it ? No, not...

Re: Bosch D-Jetronic Fuel injection 1974 280 SE W116

Hi Jim, this person may well be your best friend yet. Lots of guys familiar with the older Benzes have either retired, or even kicked the can. I can't really comment on Mark's suggestion - the cost...

Re: A need to think and research more

Unfortunately Jim, your experience is not totally unexpected. The cost of spares, as well as cost of hourly servicing not only by dealerships but also mechanics, explain the reasons for European cars...

Re: I have suggested a possible new member

Hi Jim, thanks for your effort in recommending the recommendation for another Benz owner to join. This is very important to TK as we really need as many members as possible. Thanks for your help....

Re: Will never buy a W107

It would be too slow to get into their way. Seriously though, there is something satisfying to just be slogging along, with that re-assuring drumming under the bonnet. They talk about the torque of...

Re: Benzless Patrick

Hi Patrick, it looks an excellent choice and furthermore it looks to have been beautifully maintained. It is certainly a pretty car. I understand that the DSG transmission, if the "dry type", can be...

Re: Drivers seat stuck at full height adjustment.

Hi Jim, how and why did you get it into the full height position ? Is the height adjustment handle at the side of the seat broken ?

You will need to lift up the metal part of the adjustment...

Re: Valve Grind & De-coke on 6.9

I have re-visited this thread which involved removal of heads, valve grind and de-coke of my Gleaming Beauty (6.9). I came across the thread accidentally when commenting on another post, and I...

Re: The Rover P5/P5B

Bryce, it comes back to me now. I did suspect it had featured previously. This car is a strange mixture of good and perhaps "not so good". The original thread amply illustrates the ride height of...

Jim, I have previously posted on the matter of Central Locking, AND how to fix it.

Re: Workshop Manual

Jim, the MB Club of NSW does have Workshop Manuals for the W116 models. They are huge books (very thick), and there are two volumes. I used to be the librarian in days gone by, so I have a pretty...

Geoff, that's an absolutely great looking car and appears to be in fabulous condition. Do you or anyone else on the forum have an opinion on this model, and the possible issues that may be inherent...

Re: Sunshine on Citrus Green

I guess it's what the public is perceived to want. One second hand car dealer just down the road from me (Why walk used cars) told me that the public wants all colours, as long as it's white - go...

Re: Car of the week

........I do think it's a bit rough around the edges. It would not be on my short list. Personally, I don't think the interior is right for the exterior - or the other way round. Also, by the looks...

Re: Car of the week

Geoff, that's an absolutely gorgeous motor car. It's not cheap though, is it ? I would want to be a "rich man" before toying with a car like that, plus a very experienced and dedicated mechanic to...

Re: Car of the week

This is quite a nice looking and well maintained car. Certainly the interior is well above average when compared with some of the other offerings that have featured on TK. It is only the driver's...

Re: Sunshine on Citrus Green

I have just come across David's post featuring the rims he purchased. They were nigh on perfect and I don't think that he had to re-paint any of the Bundts - and they are all the correct size.
