This SLC on grays looks interesting. Current bid $6000. Its listed as a 1973, but I estimate it to be a 79 or 80 model.

Its an import, so probably a high comp motor too. Can't see rust in the usual places although you would need to get underneath to be sure

According to Grays online the 450SLC has no service history.

Front LH and RH doors look at different shade of green to the rest of the car would I be right?

Drivers seat showing signs of age.

Indeed the car has many faults, but it's better than many advertised for 3x the money.

I just would never consider buying a car with no service history but thatís just me others may agree or disagree?

The 450SLC is almost 45 years years old and no service history.

My thoughts , looks like a nice car but i would shy away from buying a W126 with ASR

I've been warned about this by many people. I know when I bought my 560SEC's I avoided 1991 models as it was standard (at least in the united states) by then.

The car looks very nice other than that.

I'm sure helmet can comment with more knowledge, but a few people who are very 126 knowledgeable told me to stay away. that basically the system is prone to fail and its many thousands of dollars to put right. And unlike say a LSD, the car is not usable once the system is failed.

How would one know that the car is fitted with it?

The easiest way to tell when looking at cars for sale online is to look at the instrument cluster as there is an indicator in the speedometer that lights up when the system activates.

https://s8.postimg.cc/rvsegu4xh/4984_5.jpg

in the photo above you can see that indicator (square) above the odometer.

For when they show the whole cluster like this one, you can see ASR light bottom right.

of course, this assumes the car has not had a cluster change.

Well explained Bryce.
The other think about ASR in a late W126 is that they are very high geared and itís difficult the spin the wheels , even on hard throttle in the wet they have amazing traction. The only place itís really useful on a 126 is snow and ice.

Good evening gents very interesting info about the 420SE and the ASR.

I have been as a passenger in a 1991 420SE I did notice the yellow ASR light displayed whilst in motion.

You learn something new every day!
